Our History - A Lasting Landmark

In 1853 a man by the name of James Smith purchased a piece of land with the idea of building a hotel on the former farm, Driefontein. The Commercial Hotel was subsequently established. Forward along to 1999, the now updated three star hotel named the Karoo Country Inn is purchased by Johan and Deone Du Pisani from former owners Renier and Louie Le Roux, who owned and operated the hotel for twenty years.

The Karoo Country Inn continues to operate today under the ownership of Johan and Deone Du Pisani. The hotel today features significantly updated and modernized rooms whilst still maintaining the cultural and antique feel that stemming from its status as historical landmark. The Hotel also offers economic and self-catering options for those who wish to stay at a lower rate. The Karoo Country Inn promises to keep the antique hotel feel in the Karoo that many clients desire.
